We are calling on donors to invest in initiatives geared towards ending female genital cutting/mutilation (FGM/C) and remodel their traditional funding practices to more effectively support grassroots organisations. The letter highlights the funding gap of $2.1 billion needed to end this practice in 31 priority countries. Even before COVID-19 hindered the progress to end this practice, our collective goal to end FGC by 2030 was an ambitious target to achieve under the Sustainable Development Goals. Now more than ever, urgent action is needed in order to advance our mission to end this harmful practice by 2030. We invite governments, foundations, private sector, and other donors to urgently start / increase funding to the FGM/C sector.
